About the Event

Sweeping changes to Connecticut’s Sick Day Law will take effect for employers with 25 or more employees on January 1, 2025. The law will expand the class of employees entitled to sick time, expand the reasons for which employees can take leave, accelerate the rate at which employees accrue sick time, and impose new notice and record retention requirements on employers. Smaller employers will also become subject to the law in coming years: those with 11 or more employees on January 1, 2026, and those with 1 or more employees on January 1, 2027.


For employers with 25-49 employees, including manufacturers, YMCAs, and municipalities, this means complying with all the requirements of a law that had not applied in the past. 


For employers who are subject to the current Sick Day Law, this will require significant policy changes impacting exempt employees, new employees, and seasonal employees.
